Cody Perry Takes Home Hornet Special

Vernon, IN - July 16, 2011 - Saturday night at Twin Cities Raceway Park in beautiful
Vernon, IN, the temps were smoltering hot, but that did not stop twenty four ump hornet
cars from rolling into the track for the top prize for the "Hornet Special". Three
preliminary heat races set the starting field for the a-main event. The front row was
made up of two strong runners in the division, North Vernon, IN's Cody Perry and Todd
Cain. As the field came out of turn number four and took chief starter Colton
Fleetwood's green flag, Cain jumped out to the early lead with Perry not letting much
realstate get between the two. North Vernon, IN's young driver Bryson Clark was
looking strong holding onto the third spot. Cain held the top spot for eighteen of the
twenty lap event. With two laps remaining, Perry was putting lots of pressure on Cain
just waiting on the right time to make his move. As the field bunched up coming out of
turn number four, Perry would claim the lead for lap number nineteen with Cain falling
back to second. With the one more circuit around the 3/8 mile highbanks, Clark was on
the move as well passing Cain on the last lap to come home in the second spot with
Cain ending up third. Up next at Twin Cities Raceway Park will be the 5th Annual Don
Russ Memorial paying $800 to win for UMP Pure Stocks on August 13. Also on the
racing card for the night will be UMP Super Stocks, UMP Bombers, UMP Mini Stocks and
the ILMS (Indiana Late Model Series).
